Day 6: Berbers and Romans

Time to dive into the past. We say goodbye to Fez and discover the former Roman city of Volubilis. Immerse yourself in the Roman era and discover how the Romans were already conducting trade in North Africa. In Volubilis, lions, bears and leopards were traded which were used by the Romans during the wild animal combats in the Circus Maximus. Volubilis was an important trading and meeting center. The Romans first met the Berber people there.
We continue our journey through history in Moulay Idris. The village was named after Idris I, the first Islamic ruler in Morocco and also a descendant of Prophet Muhammad. Idris I and his son played an important role in the Islamization of Morocco. In Moulay idris, you will visit the Mausoleum of Idris I which remains an important pilgrimage site in Morocco to this day. Overlooking the mausoleum, you will enjoy a traditional Moroccan BBQ. After lunch, we continue our tour to Meknes.
In Meknes, one of the imperial cities, you will have time to explore the vibrant center on your own or sip a delicious cup of mint tea overlooking the souk (market).
Your private driver will take you to your riad in Rabat late afternoon, where you will be spending the next two nights.

Day 7: Through Morocco's capital by bike
